For more than 20 years, Algaba de Ronda has dedicated itself to protecting and reviving endangered native Andalusian livestock breeds.
The estate has been certified organic since 2001 by the Andalusian Organic Farming Committee, which deepens our commitment to safeguarding its preservation through mindful agroecological planning.
Through this theme, you will have the chance to discover, observe, and experience firsthand contact with endangered native Andalusian livestock breeds. We will explore organic livestock management and meet one of the most threatened farm breeds: the golden blond pig (cerdo rubio dorado), a unique lineage of the Iberian pig that cannot be visited anywhere else in Europe. In the heart of our ancient holm oak forest, the pigs roam freely, in perfect harmony with their surroundings. Guided by knowledgeable staff along our estate trails, we will wander together and discover their traditional habitat: the Mediterranean woodland.
What makes the golden blond pig so unique? How is it raised? What does it eat? Why is the Iberian pig so deeply rooted in Spanish culture? How does it help protect the natural environment? What are its health benefits? Why are we fighting to preserve its varieties? We will answer all these questions, while unveiling the secrets of the ancient forest it calls home and showing how organic, eco-friendly farming honors animal welfare. We will also journey back to the very origins of livestock farming, discovering its beginnings over 5,000 years ago with the earliest farming communities in our Neolithic village.
We will enjoy watching these animals roaming freely in extensive pasture, alongside other endangered native Andalusian breeds, such as the Andalusian donkey, the Grazalema Merino sheep, and the Andalusian or Utrerana hen. We will unveil the unique farming traits of each breed, why they are at risk, how we care for them, the story of their recovery, and the conservation strategies we employ.

Agroecology and Livestock Workshop
In this workshop, we explore organic and zero-kilometer food production in greater depth. We will also learn about the morphology, breeding, and care of endangered native Andalusian livestock breeds living freely on our estate. We will observe the animals in their natural habitat and discover how essential resources such as milk, eggs, wool, and meat—which have sustained human life since ancient times—are obtained.
Eco-Entrepreneurship and Social Economy Workshop
An interactive dynamic to explore a career path centered on creating and sustaining your own job alongside team members who share your business vision. We will examine real-world eco-entrepreneurship case studies, form teams, and brainstorm creative ideas to address the challenges typically faced when launching a new business dedicated to the social economy and economic and environmental sustainability.
