An ancient haven safeguarded by a cooperative

In the heart of the Serranía de Ronda, a women-led team has been nurturing an ancient Quercus ecosystem home to archaeological sites from prehistory to the present for over two decades — guided by ecological values and a cooperative spirit.

From a shared dream to an inspiring benchmark

Over 20 years ago, a group of people captivated by the Serranía de Ronda decided to come together and steward a natural haven dedicated to rest, learning, and culture.

The team, formed mostly by women, chose the cooperative model to foster dignified work and an ecological economy to care for this landscape.

“The great opportunity arose from the land's rich heritage: ancient Quercus oaks and archaeological traces from prehistoric times to the present.”

Today, it is a renowned space for biodiversity conservation, built hand-in-hand with Andalusian universities and rural cooperatives.
