More than 20 years ago, a group of people deeply in love with the Serranía de Ronda decided to come together—combining professional care with heartfelt warmth—to manage a haven in the heart of nature dedicated to rest, personal growth, education, and culture.
Since then, the Algaba team, comprised mostly of women, chose the cooperative model to support dignified livelihoods and the ecological economy to nurture this natural environment, provide quality products, and meet the needs of the community.
Without a doubt, this wonderful opportunity blossomed thanks to the extraordinary richness of the Algaba estate—an ecosystem of high environmental value, home to ancient Quercus oaks and archaeological traces spanning from prehistoric times to the present day. Algaba, a name derived from Hispanic Arabic meaning a dense, deep forest, stands today as a beacon of environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation, as celebrated by our many European, national, and local awards.
From the very beginning, our dream was to bring an integrated heritage management model to life. Thanks to the support of wonderful professionals across many fields, alongside Andalusian universities, rural advocacy associations, and fellow cooperatives, today Algaba de Ronda is a hallmark of quality. Its diverse spaces and facilities—including workshops, an auditorium, a yoga and wellness room, a restaurant, and more—were thoughtfully designed to host gatherings, educational retreats, special celebrations, and ecotourism activities. Across the estate, our thematic spaces for education and culture were created to offer programs for all ages, grounded in environmental education, agroecology, and experimental archaeology.
Our diverse programs and services are rooted in a deep respect for strict social and environmental sustainability criteria, sharing with the community everything this land has to offer in quality products, wisdom, and well-being.
